ID Protection, occasionally also referred to as WHOIS or Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the actual contact info of domain registrants on WHOIS check sites. Without this service, the name, address and email account of any domain owner will be publicly visible. Supplying fake info during the domain registration procedure or altering the authentic details at a later time will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing their domain name ownership rights. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, demand that the WHOIS info must be correct and accurate all the time. The ID Protection service was introduced by domain registrars as a response to the increasing concerns about possible identity theft. If the service is enabled, the registrar company’s contact details will be displayed instead of the client’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domain names support the ID Protection service, although there are some country-code extensions that do not.

You can do this through the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, via which you manage the hosting account – you will just need to visit the Registered Domains section where all your domain names will be displayed and to click the “ID Protect” logo, which will be available for each generic or country-code domain that supports the protection service. This is also the place where you can renew the service or deactivate it completely – if you want to transfer a given domain name to some other company. With our ID Protection service, you can conceal your private or business contact information with just a couple of clicks and stop worrying that your information might be acquired by unauthenticated persons.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you choose to order a semi-dedicated server plan from us, you will be able to add ID Protection to any of your domain names by taking several easy steps. In case you order a registration or a transfer during the signup procedure, you can get the service along with the domain name. In case you skip this step and you change your mind afterwards, you can enable the ID Protection service from the Hepsia Control Panel’s Registered Domains section, through which you can manage the entire semi-dedicated account. This is also the place where you can activate ID Protection for all other domain names that you register with us after the signup process. Renewing or deactivating the service is just as easy and will take only a few mouse clicks.
